A few weeks back, we published our initial review of the SBR Sports TriSwim Shampoo and Conditioner. Since then, we’ve seen a great deal of interest in our review of the TriSwim products and figured that our readers could use a bit more information on some body care products.
First off today, we’re going to take a look at a shampoo widely available at salons or online. You can find Nexxus Aloe Rid Shampoo for less than $10 at many salons and beauty supply stores or for about $7 on Amazon.com.
About Nexxus Aloe Rid Shampoo:
Nexxus Aloe Rid Shampoo, unlike the TriSwim products, isn’t designed especially for triathletes and swimmers. The Aloe Rid is a more general product designed to help anyone strip out chemicals and pollutants that build up in your hair. While it’s designed to assist with the overall look of your hair and claims to help make your hair look healthy by removing buildup, we’re only going to focus on it’s ability to strip out chlorine.
Testing Nexxus Aloe Rid Shampoo:
We’ve been testing this shampoo since before we received the samples of the TriSwim product line. We estimate that we’ve used this product at least 25 times since purchasing. We only use this product after swimming, largely because it’s not designed as an everyday use shampoo.
The Nexxus Aloe Rid Shampoo does a great job of stripping out chlorine. Most people know that aloe is useful as a moisturizing tool, but not everyone knows that it also isolates and mitigates chlorine damage. Though the Nexxus Aloe Rid Shampoo works well, we were surprised to see that aloe is the 6th ingredient listed on the bottle. Other than water, we had trouble identifying any of the chemicals used in this shampoo.
After using this shampoo, your hair will feel clean and buildup free. The only downside to this chemical removal ability is that the shampoo leaves your hair a bit dry and flat. If you are used to having shiny hair, you will need to add a conditioner to your routine.
Nexxus Aloe Rid Shampoo is also a disturbing green color. This doesn’t impact it’s performance at all, but it does look a bit like green slime… The scent is basically neutral but is a bit medicinal. The shampoo lathers up well and rinses completely.
Initial Thoughts on Nexxus Aloe Rid Shampoo:
We like the performance of the Nexxus Aloe Rid Shampoo. It does what it claims, i.e. strips out chemicals, or at least strips out chlorine, and leaves your hair clean and buildup free.
That said, our initial testing indicates that the TriSwim Shampoo does a better job of stripping out harsh and damaging chemicals and leaves your hair a bit softer and sleeker.
Both products work very well and do what they claim. Since picking up a bottle of shampoo is hardly a serious commitment, we suggest you try a few different options before settling on what works best for you.
