SheRox is a four year old female only triathlon series. Since the series started, SheRox reports that over 7500 women have participated in a SheRox triathlon. Most of the races are sprint distances and feature most of your standard triathlon categories. In addition, SheRox offers a Buddy Wave that allows you to start with a friend that isn’t in your class and a Survivor Wave that is only for cancer survivors. Both really great ideas.
The 2010 SheRox Triathlon is scheduled on 25 April. The event will start at 7am at the City of Miami Marine Stadium. This year’s race will be a .8K (.5 mile) swim, followed by a 20K bike and a 5K run.
Your first triathlon can be a daunting experience. SheRox has a few programs to help. The first is a training program. I’m not one for training program, but this is pretty standard fare for most triathlons now. But the Mentor Program seems to be a good idea. If you sign up for the program, they assign you an experienced triathlete to answer questions and provide some tips and best practices as you prepare for the race.
If you’re going to be in sunny Miami that weekend, and are female, you might want to consider registering for the SheRox Miami Triathlon.
