SUGOI Women’s Lucky Cycling Shorts–Final Review

Our tester has been using the SUGOI Lucky Bike Shorts for a little more than three months.  If you’re interested, you can check out our initial review.

The shorts are available directly from SUGOI for $75, but we just noticed that one color, the Tank Green, is discounted 50%.  Before we get into the final details, let’s look back at some of our initial impressions.

Initial Impressions of the SUGOI Women’s Lucky Cycling Shorts:

Our tester loved the hot pink chamois.  SUGOI set out to make the shorts flattering and feminine and these little details show that they actually paid attention.  We see many companies who’s idea of a women’s product is simply selling the same men’s products in smaller sizes.  Good work SUGOI.

Our tester liked the 6 panel design, but found that the sizing was a bit off based on the website instructions.  Our test sample was a medium and there was extra fabric in the front, especially around the hips.  Even with the extra fabric, our tester’s initial impression was that this didn’t cause any bunching or chafing.

Our tester noted that the Helix fabric used in the SUGOI Lucky Short is a little thicker than some other brands, but was very soft, stretchy, and exceedingly comfortable.  Additionally, the Helix material was excellent at moisture wicking and the hot pink chamois provides excellent comfort.

Final Observations on the SUGOI Women’s Lucky Cycling Shorts:

After using the shorts for an extended period of time, our tester continued to have a bit of trouble with the sizing.  In some situations our tester noticed bunching and chafing due to the fit of these shorts.  This didn’t happen at every use and it didn’t always occur under the same circumstances.  Our best recommendation is to try on your regular size in these shorts, but be willing to experiment with a size smaller if necessary.  We have also exchanged items from SUGOI before and found their customer service to be excellent, so not to worry if you decide to purchase these online.

Our tester continued to be impressed with the wicking and moisture control performance of the Lucky Shorts.  They are very breathable short for cycling or for spinning.

The chamois provides solid comfort for even the longest rides and most aggressive spin classes.  The overall appearance of these shorts is pleasing, with a full back that provides coverage if you’re in 3rd position on a spin bike or aero’d out on your road or tri bike.

We’re happy to recommend these shorts with the caveat that you need to know your size in SUGOI before purchasing a pair.  It’s possible that our tester is on the smaller size of a true medium and your individual experience might vary.  That said, these are a comfortable, feminine, and breathable pair of shorts at a reasonable price.
